Are You Aware of Flu Symptoms?

Flu is a highly contagious respiratory infection that scientists like to call influenza. The group of viruses that causes this disease is called the influenza viruses. These viruses normally enter the body of the patient through mouth, nose, or eyes.

Air is the medium through which this influenza virus spreads. If a person who is suffering from influenza either sneezes or coughs, they are allowing this virus to become airborne. The airborne virus can then infect the person who inhales it. A person who touches and infected object before touching either their nose or mouth are at high risk f getting influenza. Buses and schools are high risk areas where virus can spread easily.

The risk of getting flu is higher among people with specific health conditions, school children and older adults. One can use the any of the different options available to treat flu, if one is able to differentiate between flu and cold.

Common flu symptoms include chills, cough, muscle aches, extreme tiredness, headaches fever, sore throat, and runny nose. Runny nose is more common among children than it is in adults. Diarrhea and vomiting are sometimes also symptoms of flu, but children are more likely to suffer these symptoms than adults.

Mistaking both flu symptoms and cold symptoms for each other can happen.

People suffering from cold rarely have headaches and fever, but those suffering from flu do. The severity of fatigue and body pains is low for cold while severe in the case of flu. Only people suffering from flu suffer from extreme exhaustion not those who have cold. Stuffy nose, sneezing, and sore throat are symptoms of cold and sometimes the symptoms of flu. Chest pain is a common symptom in flu and cold, but in the case of flu it is more severe.

Identifying flu symptoms is very important as it can be cured with 24-48 hours after the person get it.
